Nzonzi: Sevilla´s Europa League dominance comparable to Real Madrid´s Champions League aura

Sevilla s aura in the Europa League is similar to the fear Real Madrid instil into Champions League opponents, says Steven Nzonzi.

Jose Mourinho s Roma were the latest team to fall foul of Sevilla in a Europa League final as the Andalusian side extended their remarkable record of wins in UEFA s second-tier club competition to seven.

Only five teams – Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Liverpool and Bayern Munich – have won more major European honours than Sevilla, who beat Roma 4-1 on penalties after a tightly contested 1-1 draw in Budapest.

Nzonzi, who helped Unai Emery s Sevilla beat Liverpool in 2016 to seal a third straight Europa League crown, believes the club have now created such an air of dominance in the tournament that they can be compared to Madrid, who ha…

Borussia Dortmund appoint former midfielder Sahin as Terzic replacement

The 41-year-old – who was in his second spell in charge – had previously overseen a second-placed Bundesliga finish in 2022-23, when a final-day draw with Mainz allowed rivals Bayern Munich to snatch the title.

Terzic brought Sahin in as an assistant manager in January, just a few days after he left his first head coaching role with Turkish Super Lig team Antalyaspor.

On Friday, Dortmund confirmed Sahin would step up to the top job after signing a contract t…

Mbappe, Xhaka, Zaha and more: The Daily Transfer Round Up – June 6

PSG set Mbappe ultimatum

Paris Saint-Germain have vowed once again that they won t lose the services of Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer next year. The France forward will either sign a new contract with the Ligue 1 giants, or leave now for a transfer fee.

Though other clubs have been mentioned in that aspect, Mbappe has mostly been linked with Real Madrid. It helped Arsenal leapfrog City in the table to finish the weekend as joint leaders and while Guardiola insisted his champions are happy to chase again like they managed successfully last season, it felt like a potentially decisive early blow had been landed between these title rivals.

Rodri to Real Madrid? ´I tell him every day to leave City´, says Carvajal

Rodri is being told to leave Manchester City every day by Dani Carvajal as the Real Madrid defender believes his Spain team-mate is perfect for the LaLiga giants.

The pair are playing together at Euro 2024, where Spain will meet England in Sunday s final in Berlin.

While the Three Lions were widely considered the pre-tournament favourites, La Roja have been the standout team at the finals, led by Rodri.

The 28-year-old midfielder has established himself as one of the best in world football since joining City from Atletico Madrid in 2019.

And despite his Atleti past, Rodri can be in no doubt about the sort of welcome he would receive if he returned to Madrid, his home city, with Los Blancos.

Carvajal has made it clear how Rodri would fit in at the …

Euro 2012 preview: Germany v Kazakhstan

Unbeaten Germany will look to maintain their 100 per cent record in Group A of Euro 2012 qualifying when they tackle cellar dwellers Kazakhstan.

Germany should collect their fifth straight win on Saturday when they host a Kazakhstan team that has yet to earn their first point in this campaign.

The match is likely to be a tough baptism of fire for new Kazakh coach Miroslav Beranek.

Beranek, 53, only took over the reins seven weeks ago following the resignation of German Bernd Storck in October but he seems to be on a mission impossible.

Kazakhstan have lost all four of their qualifiers, conceding 10 goals and failing to find the net so far. Germany beat their opponents 3-0 with second half goals from Miroslav Klose, Mario Gomez and Lukas Podolski.
